Tara Self (Head Coach)

Two-time Olympian Tara Self began coaching full-time with the Cheetahs beginning in 2005. Tara brings a wealth of experience and an unbridled passion for track and field excellence. Tara competed for Canada at every major championship over a span of more than 10 years. Highlights included a 6th place at the 1999 World Championships (4x100 relay), 4th place at the World University Games (100m), Canada Games Champion, Canadian Junior Champion, Olympic Trials Winner (1996) and 10 time National Senior Medalist.

As Head Coach of the Coquitlam Cheetahs, Tara has quickly developed an outstanding group of young sprinters and hurdlers. Athletes coached by Tara include the following:
