High Jump - Perfecting your flight

A common theme with young jumpers as we try to get them to improve is to ‘get their hips up’ or ‘arch your back more’. We have some jumpers with incredible take off, getting a lot of height - but having some challenge clearing the bar because they are ‘sitting up’ or ‘driving a truck’ while over the bar… Here is a great video outlining some simple exercises to do that will reinforce the right body position while over the bar. Do this 5 or 10 times each evening and before training, and you will build muscle memory that will help maximize your jump: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WyRbdgdOt8

I have spoken about the correct position for your takeoff leg… here is a great explanation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQ6QLCfAP0Y
