Cheetahs Return Home with 16 Championship Medals

Cheetah athletes won 16 medals at the BC Track and Field Championships in Nanaimo. Six more medals were secured on the final day of track and field action. The day started strongly with Lorenzo Barillaro and Jaylah Dennis both jumping personal bests in high jump. Lorenzo jumped 1.81 metres in the men's U16 event which matched the highest jump of the day but he ended up third based on misses from earlier in the competition. Jaylah won the women's U16 event with a jump of 1.74 metres. Jaylah also finished third in the U16 200m. Jaedyn McLaughlin raced home to finish second in a personal best time in the women's U18 200m. Michela Beuthin won her second medal of the championships by finishing third in the women's U20 200m. Delaney Self was also a double medalist as she won silver in the women's U18 400m hurdles event. Our final medal of the day was gold in the women's U20 shot put for Payton Young. Payton is a double gold medalist having won the U20 discus earlier in the championships. Congratulations to all Cheetah athletes who competed in Nanaimo.
