The BC Athletics Hall of Fame Welcomes Tara Self


Our head coach, Tara Self was inducted into the BC Athletics Hall of Fame on February 3, 2024.  Tara was recognized at the 2024 BC Athletics Awards Celebration which highlights outstanding performances in Athletics.  She enters the Hall of Fame in the category of athlete having represented Canada at all major international competitions over a ten year span which included two Olympic Games.  She also enters the Hall of Fame as a coach.  Her athletes have represented Canada at the PanAm Games, the Francophone Games, the World University Games, the World Championships, the World Youth Games (U18), the NACAC Championships, the U20 World Championships and the Olympic Games.  Tara’s award was announced by BC Athletics CEO Megann Vandervliet and was presented by her daughters, Delaney and Makenna Self.  Tara joins her mom and dad (Norma and Percy Perry) in the Hall of Fame.  They were inducted in 2006 as builders.  A highlight of the celebration was Camryn Rogers inspirational speech which discussed her journey to becoming the World Champion in the Hammer Throw in Budapest, Hungary this past summer.
